SUBJECT:

Authorize the City Manager to Sign Amendment 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Beartooth Signs & Design, LLC for Wayfinding Fabrication and Installation for the Raptor Route and Cattail Anchor Route.

MEETING DATE:

October 20, 2026

AGENDA ITEM TYPE:

Agreement - Vendor/Contract

RECOMMENDATION:

Authorize the City Manager to Sign Amendment 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Beartooth Signs & Design, LLC for Wayfinding Fabrication and Installation for the Raptor Route and Cattail Anchor Route

STRATEGIC PLAN:

6.5 Parks, Trails & Open Space: Support the maintenance and expansion of an interconnected system of parks, trails and open spaces.

BACKGROUND:

The original Professional Services Agreement was signed on June 23, 2026. Following completion of additional engineering and design and receipt of final permitting costs, an adjustment to the contract amount is necessary. The contract amount will increase from $42,540.00 to $64,020.30.

The adjustment is attributable to the following:

  • Fabrication: An increase of $950.00 per kiosk reflects the additional cost to fabricate the wayfinding kiosks.
  • Permitting: An increase of $380.30 reflects the difference between the estimated permitting costs included in the original agreement and the actual permitting costs.
  • Installation: An increase of $900.00 per kiosk reflects the additional cost to install the wayfinding kiosks.
  • Original Contract Correction: The remaining increase corrects an error in the original agreement, which reflected installation costs for only 1 kiosk rather than the six 6 kiosks included in the project scope.

This contract with Beartooth Signs and Design will enable the first round of wayfinding kiosks within parks along the Raptor Route and Cattail Anchor Route. The kiosk locations will include the "M" Trail, Story Mill Community Park, Glen Lake Rotary Park, Cattail Lake Park, Bozeman Pond Park, and the Bozeman Sports Park.

UNRESOLVED ISSUES:

None.

ALTERNATIVES:

None.

FISCAL EFFECTS:

Funding for this project comes from FY26 general park and trail improvements in the Park Land Trust Fund, FY27 Active Transportation and Cattail Corridor projects in the Parks and Trails District Fund.
