Weatherford Historic Preservation Commission

Kelly Little, with the Texas Historical Commission, will provide a presentation on the tools and resources utilized during historic preservation design review, including the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and applicable design guidelines. The presentation will provide an overview of how these standards and guidelines are used to evaluate proposed alterations, additions, and improvements to historic properties while maintaining their historic character and architectural integrity.

The presentation will also focus on the practical application of these tools during the Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) review process. This training is intended to provide Historic Preservation Commission members with a better understanding of how to consistently evaluate proposed projects, apply established preservation standards, and make informed decisions that balance historic preservation with property owners’ needs.
