Consider and act upon the second reading of Ordinance 2026-10 amending Appendix A, "Fee Schedule", Article A5.000, "Utility Related Fees", Section A5.003, "Solid Waste Collection Rate", in the code of ordinances to adopt the new garbage collection and recycling rates, providing for incorporation of premises; providing for amendments; repealing any ordinance in conflict with the ordinance; providing for severability; and providing an effective date.

The Town of Sunnyvale contracts with Republic Services to provide solid waste services. In accordance with the Amendment to Municipal Contract dated October 1, 2022, Republic Services notified the Town Manager of the annual rate adjustment allowed in Section 2.0. By calculating the percent change between the most recent rolling 12-month average compared to the preceding 12 months of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) - Water, Sewer, Trash Collection Services, published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual rate adjustment will be a 4.69% rate increase effective October 1, 2026. Included in the packet, is the letter notifying the Town of the rate increase, the CPI - Water/Sewer/Trash rate table, percent change calculations, and the 2026 and 2025 rate tables for comparison. The rate increase will be a pass-through fee to customers.
The proposed rates include a 4.69% increase passed through to the customers.
