Discussion related to the use of Electronic Bicycles (E-Bikes) on town roads, public spaces, parks, and trails.

This item was requested by Town Council to provide information regarding current ordinances and policies related to the use of electronic bicycles (e-bikes) within the Town of Sunnyvale.
Town Staff will provide an overview of the Town's current bicycle ordinance, including provisions applicable to the use of bicycles within Town rights-of-way, public spaces, parks, and trails. Staff will also provide an overview of the different classifications and definitions of e-bikes and discuss how other municipalities address the use of e-bikes within their communities.
Staff will present potential options for regulating e-bike use within the Town, including considerations for use on Town roads, in public spaces, within parks, and on Town trails.
The purpose of the discussion is to receive direction and feedback from Town Council regarding potential changes to the Town's existing regulations. Staff will use the feedback received to develop potential ordinance amendments for consideration at a future Town Council meeting.
