Staff recommends the Governing Body move to approve the SSG Committee recommendation for the 2027 Social Service Grants allocation in the amount of $491,904.

The Social Service Grant (SSG) Committee met July 16, 2026, to review the scoring recommendations presented by United Way's grant review committee of all social service grant applications for 2027. The committee heard appeals from agencies regarding their application scores. Agencies appealing included: Shawnee County Medical Society's Health Access and Topeka LULAC Multipurpose Senior Center, Inc. The Committee met July 24, 2026, and voted 2-0-0 to amend the scoring and recommended approval for the revised scoring and funding recommendations to proceed to the Governing Body.

The social service grants use of $424,047 in General funds and $67,857 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds totaling of $491,904.
