Z26/08 is a request to rezone the property from "O&I-2" Office and Institutional District to "M-1" Two Family Dwelling District. M-1 zoning will allow the owner to build a duplex on the property. The parcel has been vacant for at least 20 years.
The rezoning will help to provide a wider variety of housing options, a need identified in the 2020 Citywide Housing Study and Strategy.
The applicant conducted a neighborhood information meeting on Thursday, July 30, 2026. The applicant, Planning staff, and Councilwoman Hiller attended the meeting. No others attended.
Planning Division staff recommended approval as stated in the attached staff report. The Planning Commission recommended approval by a vote of 8-0-0 at its August 17, 2026 public hearing.
Approval will have no impact on the City's adopted budget.
