APPROVAL of a three-year labor contract between the City of Topeka and the Water Division of AFSCME Council 61, 1294.

(Approval provides for a 3% increase to the pay matrix in 2027, 2028, and 2029.)

POLICY ISSUE:

Pursuant to Topeka Municipal Code Section 2.115.020(a), employee agreements between the City and a recognized employee organization must be approved prior to signature by City Manager.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of a three-year labor contract between the City of Topeka and the Water Division of AFSCME Council 61, 1294

BACKGROUND:

Water Management and AFSCME - Water reached a tentative agreement on September 21. The agreement on wages provides for a 3% increase to the pay matrix in 2027, 2028, and 2029. Eligible bargaining unit members will receive one-step increases upon the completion of their anniversary in each year of the contract. See summary for a description of all contract changes.
