CONSENT AGENDA

TITLE:

TR14445 - A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, reaffirming its support for the City of Sunrise to administer and deliver the NW 94th Avenue Bike Lane Project; consistent with Resolution No. R-2021-007; authorizing funding in the amount of $221,601.02 for the City of Tamarac's portion of the project, including a ten percent (10%) construction contingency, with eligible project costs subject to reimbursement through the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Local Agency Program (LAP); providing for conflicts; providing for severability; and providing for an effective date.

RECOMMENDATION:

The Interim Director of Public Services recommends that the City Commission authorize funding in the amount of $221,601.02, representing  the City of Tamarac’s share of the NW 94th Avenue Bike Lane Project, at its October 28, 2026 meeting.

BACKGROUND:

The NW 94th Avenue Bike Lane Project was previously presented to the Tamarac City Commission and approved pursuant to Resolution No. R-2021-007 and adopted on January 27, 2021. Through this action, the City of Tamarac endorsed the City of Sunrise’s role in administering and delivering the project.

The project is funded through the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Program and delivered under the federally mandated Local Agency Program (LAP) administered by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). As the project advances under the Local Agency Program (LAP), coordination between the City of Tamarac and the City of Sunrise is necessary to establish the upfront funding arrangements required to facilitate the project delivery, including design, construction, and construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services, as applicable.

Although the project improvements are partially located within the City of Tamarac’s right-of-way, the City of Sunrise is prepared to advance and administer the overall project scope. Eligible project costs are reimbursable through the LAP program, subject to the governing funding agreements, applicable LAP requirements, and satisfaction of all reimbursement conditions.

These additional services are not included in the construction budget presented above and may increase the total funding required to advance the project.
