REQUESTED MOTION

To approve 2026 Street Rehabilitation, city project 26-04 change order 2

INTRODUCTION

Additional utility work has been identified, including storm water improvements and electrical conduit. This work can be added to the ongoing 2026 Street Rehabilitation, city project 26-04, by council's approval of change order 2.

DISCUSSION

Public works has identified several utility improvements for construction with the 2026 Street Rehabilitation, city project 26-04. Change order 2 includes an additional nine storm catch basins with specialized baffles and 1,315 feet of electrical conduit.

Additional storm water items include this installation of sump catch basins with specialized baffles, that will trap sediment at the bottom of the catch basin structure. This sediment can then be removed before it enters ponds, wetlands or lakes, where it can impact water quality and is much more costly to remove. The cost for this additional work is quoted at $169,505.00. This will be funded from the surface water fund, as identified in the CIP for a water quality improvement, consistent with our MS4 permitting requirements, for an increase in surface water funding of $148,000.00 for construction/engineering/administration.

Additional electrical conduit has been identified for the community center upper and lower parking lots. The conduit will provide wiring for proposed electric vehicle charging stations, overhead lighting and security cameras. The cost for this additional work was quoted at $22,431.50.  This will be funded from the community investment fund with an increase in funding of $26,000.00 for construction/engineering/administration.
