To adopt resolution number 26-78 establishing a preliminary city tax levy of $20,363,531, and a preliminary HRA tax levy of $325,000 for collection in 2027; and set the budget hearing for December 7, 2026 at 7 pm.
At the August 17 council workshop staff reviewed with the city council the preliminary tax levy. The attached report provides information about the truth in taxation process, the recommended preliminary 2027 tax levy, residential property values and the estimated change in residential property taxes. The council is being asked to formally adopt a preliminary tax levy, a preliminary HRA levy, and establish a date for the Budget Hearing.
Please refer to the attached staff report for a complete discussion of the recommended levy. As in the past, once the preliminary levy is adopted the Council may decrease the levy, but may not increase the levy at the time of final adoption.
Staff recommends adoption of the attached proposed resolution 26-78 setting the preliminary tax levy in the amount of $20,393,531 and $325,000 for the City and HRA respectively, and setting the budget hearing date for December 7, 2026 at 7 pm.
