The city council is required to hold a public hearing for the assessment of costs incurred with public nuisance abatements. Nuisance abatements were authorized and completed on the following properties:
The property owners were billed for the costs associated with the abatements and the bills remain unpaid.
The city required the removal of untreated ash trees and other dead trees from private property in a portion of the city north of Highway 96 in 2026, pursuant to city code section 22-2. Trees required to be removed were in locations that may impact a public right of way or public property if the tree failed and had a removal deadline of March 31, 2026. Property owners were notified of the tree(s) on their property and the required removal via letter on October 24, 2025; December 29, 2025; and February 10, 2026.
Properties that did not remove the marked trees by the deadline were provided a notice of abatement by mail and posting on the property on April 9, 2026. The city council approved the abatement at the meeting on May 4, 2026. The trees were subsequently removed by a contractor and bills mailed to the property owner for the cost. The list below shows the cost of tree removal for each property that was billed to the property owner.
