Replacement for unit 609-14 a 1 ton dump box truck for the parks department

Shoreview's 2027 capital improvement program includes funding that is allocated for the replacement of unit 609-14. City council approval is necessary at this time for the authorization to purchase its replacement. The current unit will be sold at auction at the Parks Departments request.
Unit 609-14 is a 2014 Ford F350 pick-up truck used by the parks department to haul materials to numerous parks for maintenance. The truck is also used to plow parking lots within the city like city hall, community center, parks, and fire stations. The current unit has 68,000 miles and is due for a scheduled replacement.
The 2027 capital improvement plan includes a budgeted amount of $82,000 for the purchase of a 1 ton dump box truck and plow. Purchasing through the State of Minnesota cooperative purchasing venture contract the city can acquire a new 2027 Chevrolet 3500 Silverado for the purchase price of $48,000. The truck will also be equipped with a mechanical dump box and plow. The accessories added to the truck will also be purchased through the State of Minnesota cooperative purchasing venture. The purchase price of the dump box is $35,000 bringing the total purchase price to $83,000.
Due to the delivery lead times for this type of vehicle, ordering the vehicle at this time will provide adequate time to allow for delivery in 2027.
