Recommendation:

Adopt a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Rocklin Approving and Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Grant Agreement by and between Placer Valley Tourism and the City of Rocklin.

Background:

Quarry Park Amphitheater is a premier outdoor performance venue owned and operated by the City of Rocklin. The venue hosts more than 20 concerts and special events annually, attracting regional and statewide audiences and generating approximately 2,500 hotel room nights in Placer County. The amphitheater serves as a cornerstone of Rocklin’s placemaking strategy, economic development efforts, and cultural identity.

In February 2026, staff applied for and were awarded a grant from Placer Valley Tourism (PVT) in the amount of $100,818 to install a professional overhead truss system and a custom illuminated “Rocklin” stage sign and backdrop at the Quarry Park Amphitheater stage. Installation of this equipment will enhance the experience for concert attendees. In April 2026, staff was notified that PVT was awarding the grant for the full funding request of $100,818.

This grant agreement (Attachment 2) is a ten-year agreement and includes:

  • City of Rocklin will prominently display PVT logos on signage recognizing PVT’s contribution, in mutually agreed upon formats and locations for a minimum of 10 years. Grantee shall provide photographs of such displays to PVT.
  • PVT shall pay the City an amount not to exceed $100,818.

Staff recommends the City Council approve the grant agreement.

Fiscal Impact:

There is no City match required. The Resolution includes the necessary budget appropriation authority as part of the recommended action to accept, administer, and account for the grant funding up to $100,818.
