Consent Agenda
Appointing Mayor Norton as the City of Rochester voting delegate for the National League of Cities City Summit.
The National League of Cities (NLC) City Summit is scheduled for November 19-21, 2026. The Annual Business Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, November 21st, 2026. To be eligible to cast votes for the City of Rochester at the Annual Business Meeting, the City must designate a voting delegate and, if applicable, an alternate voting delegate and then submit that information to the NLC.
Mayor Norton, Councilmember Doering, and Councilmember Miller are currently registered to attend the NLC City Summit. It is recommended to
designate Mayor Norton as the Voting Delegate to cast the City’s votes at the NLC City Summit Business Meeting. Should the Council wish, an alternate could also be appointed.
Mayor Norton is a member of the National League of Cities Board of Directors and has participated in many committees and programs for NLC, including serving as chair of the 2025 Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee. As such, the Mayor is the most well-versed in NLC's legislative agenda and how it correspondingly aligns with the City of Rochester's legislative efforts.
Previous council approval was granted in 2023 for the NLC City Summit and Mayor Norton as voting delegate.
There is no cost to appoint a delegate.
Appoint a different delegate, and/or appoint an alternate to the Mayor.
