PRESENTER:
Matt Lynch

Report Narrative:

This presentation provides an update on the mode shift and transportation demand management work assigned to Community Development in the adopted Action Plan. The work described implements direction already set in the Comprehensive Plan, the Destination Medical Center Development Plan, the Transit Development Plan, the Active Transportation Plan, and related adopted plans. No new policy is proposed.

The presentation begins with the problem this work responds to. Staff will then share a transportation problem statement developed with a work group of partner organizations, including institutional employers, public agencies, higher education, schools, and City departments. It reflects the perspectives of participating organizations and does not yet reflect direct engagement with people making trips. Council feedback on the statement and other policy questions will be returned to the work group.

The presentation also covers how we currently measure travel, including the City's multimodal count program, and closes with the scope and deliverables of the MnDOT Active Transportation Planning Assistance engagement, which is planning assistance rather than construction funding.
