On July 21, 2026, the City Council approved awarding a construction contract to Vincor Construction, Inc for $120,956.03 for the Whitten Center Kitchen Renovation Project. The scope of work involves replacing countertops, cabinets, and kitchen appliances to ensure the space can fully support future community service programs and event reservations.

As noted in the previously approved staff report dated July 21, 2026, staff understood sufficient project funding was available to cover the cost of this additional work. To avoid a public health hazard by leaving the mold for additional time, City staff informed the contractor to proceed with the mold abatement and any repairs necessary immediately. Completing this work will abate the mold and maintain a clean, safe and suitable for continued public use.
