A MOTION TO APPROVE the one (1)-year contract extension for No. 2 Heating Oil with Peterson's Oil Service, Inc., utilizing the City of Providence's contract, at their bid price of $0.33 differential over the daily published rate for the Port of Providence, for the period ending October 31, 2027 and AUTHORIZE the Town Manager to sign the contract after review by the Town Solicitor.
This bid is for the delivery of No. 2 heating fuel to be used at various Town facilities. We were utilizing the City of Providence's contract (bid through the Rhode Island Municipal Purchasing Agents Association (RIMPAA)), as approved by Town Council on December 1, 2025. The Purchasing Manager considered other contract options (State of RI MPA and the new bid from the RIMPAA) but Peterson's Oil is willing to extend the last contract at $0.33 differential over the daily rate through October of 2027. This is the best option for the Town.
The Town uses approximately 9,000 gallons of heating oil per year at five (5) locations: North End Fire Station, Community Center, Parks Maintenance Garage, Public Works Avice St Garage, and the Scarborough WW Treatment Plant.
Funding is available in the Operating Account "50407", Heating Fuel for the various departments.
