Walla LLC dba Walla Jewelry Company has submitted an application for a Precious Metal Dealer License. The city council is required to hold two hearings to consider the license and receive public testimony.

Motion to open the public hearing and continue to Oct. 26, for final consideration. 

Applicant and sole owner, Aaron Walla plans to open a jewelry store in the Cedar Hills Shopping Center. Walla Jewelry Company is interested in expanding their services to include gold buying services. The business operation requires a precious metal dealer license. 

Precious Metal Dealer License

A precious metal dealer is defined in Minnetonka City Code Section 610 as a person engaging in the business of buying coins or secondhand items containing precious metal, including, but not limited to, jewelry, watches, eating utensils, candlesticks, and religious and decorative objects. Precious metals are silver, gold, or platinum. For a business to purchase an item containing more than 1% by weight of these precious metals, a license is required.

Business Ownership and Operations

Walla Jewelry Company is family-owned and operated. The company intends to offer the following services:

• Custom jewelry design & fabrication
• Purchasing estate jewelry
• Precious metal purchasing 

The store hours are Tuesday – Friday 10 AM – 6 PM. Saturday 10 AM – 2 PM.

Walla Jewelry Company is committed to preventing the sale of stolen goods. The establishment will collect and retain a valid government photo ID for every seller, along with the seller’s name, date of birth, and address. The business will also log a detailed, accurate descriptions of the item and the price paid. The business uses Bravo Systems, a point-of-sale and inventory platform built for jewelry stores. 

Application information and license fees have been submitted. The police department’s investigative report on this application is pending and will be forwarded to the council prior to the continued public hearing on Oct. 26, 2026.
