AGENDA SECTION:

CONSENT AGENDA

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

First 5 supports children from the prenatal period through age five and their families through early learning, health, family support, developmental services, and programs that promote healthy child development and family wellbeing. First 5 serves families throughout San Benito County, including families who may experience barriers to accessing health, mental health, early learning, and other supportive services.

San Benito County Behavioral Health (SBCBH) and First 5 have identified an opportunity to strengthen coordination between the two organizations and improve access to behavioral health support for young children and their families. The partnership brings together First 5's existing relationships with families and its focus on early childhood development with SBCBH's behavioral health resources.

Through this no-monetary Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), SBCBH will be able to provide therapeutic support to children ages zero through five in an environment that is familiar and accessible to families participating in First 5 programs. The partnership will also create opportunities for the organizations to increase awareness of available services, strengthen referral pathways, and provide cross training and technical assistance so that staff from both organizations have a better understanding of available programs and resources.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This is a non-monetary agreement.
