CONSENT AGENDA
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) wishes to contract with County of San Benito to perform registration and regulatory activities for the industrial hemp program. These activities include application review and issuance to commercial growers and seed breeders, enforcement activities in regard to noncompliant, nonregistered growers and outreach as necessary. The Agreement is retroactive to July 1, 2026, due to receiving the Industrial HEMP registration and Regulatory activities agreement from the Califorinia Department of Food and Agriculture on August 25, 2026. This agreement spans two fiscal years. Our department invoices the California Department of Food and Agriculture monthly for expenditures incurred for the program. Work in the program began on July 1, 2026, and is being carried out by existing staff. The anticipated revenue has been budgeted in the Agricultural Commissioner's Budget for FY 2026/2027 through FY 2027/2028.
No impact to the General Fund. All activities performed are sub vented through the agreement.
