Night to Unite is an annual community event to strengthen neighborhood connections and foster positive relationships between residents, City officials, staff, and public safety partners. The 2026 Night to Unite events were held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, and included 20 neighborhood parties throughout the community, along with one City party at the Public Works Building.
An estimated 1,200 attendees came to the City party, which had a variety of family-friendly activities and opportunities for community engagement. Residents had the opportunity to interact with City Council members, City staff, Corcoran Police Department, fire and emergency response personnel, and numerous community organizations. The event included public safety demonstrations and displays, children's activities, food options, and community tables.
The continued success of Night to Unite is made possible through the generous support of local businesses, community organizations, sponsors, and volunteers. Financial contributions, in-kind donations, donated services, and volunteer time were instrumental in supporting both the neighborhood gatherings and the City-hosted celebration. Exhibit A within the resolution provides a summary of the donations received.
The attached resolution formally recognizes the efforts of those involved, while accepting the financial and in-kind donations.
To continue providing a high-quality event, while making efficient use of City resources, staff is recommending a minor adjustment to the hours of the City-hosted party beginning in 2027. Staff recommends concluding the event at 8:00 pm, rather than 9:00 pm. Attendance patterns over the past several years indicate participation significantly tapers after 8:00 pm, making the final hour of the event less active. Concluding the event at 8:00 pm will better align event operations with attendance levels while allowing staff, volunteers, and participating agencies to begin clean up and conclude their day earlier without impacting the overall community experience.
