The Council will ratify appointment of Ryan Tuss, Emily Reinig and Richard Silverman to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Fact-Finding Committee.
If it pleases the Council, ratify three applicants to the Bicycle & Pedestrian Fact Finding Committee.
The Bicycle & Pedestrian Fact-Finding Committee consists of eight positions, including two Parks Commissioners and six community members. There are currently five vacancies on the Committee. The City has received three applications for appointment: one each from Ryan Tuss and Emily Reinig seeking reappointment and one from Richard Silverman, a new applicant. If all three applicants are appointed, two vacancies will remain.
Recruitment for the Committee has been ongoing; however, attracting volunteers has been challenging. The current recruitment period remains open through September 10. The Bicycle & Pedestrian Fact-Finding Committee serves a limited fact-finding role by gathering information related to bicycle and pedestrian matters and reporting those findings to the Parks Commission for its consideration. The Committee does not make recommendations or provide opinions.
Typically, applicants are interviewed by the City Council prior to appointment. Due to scheduling conflicts that prevent two of the three applicants from attending the Council's usual interview time, the applicants are being presented for Council consideration without interviews to avoid delaying the appointment process.
