Per PMC 2.08.120B The offices of the city clerk, finance director, police chief, planning and economic development director, parks and recreation director, housing health and human services director, public works director, and city engineer shall be filled by written appointment of the city administrator in consultation with the mayor, subject to participation by the city council during the interview process and confirmation of council at an official meeting.
With the retirement of long-time Public Works Director, Diane Lenius, the City advertised the position in late spring/early summer and received a good level of interest. Interviews were conducted on July 28 and August 3. Of the finalists, Jessica Knickerbocker was the top candidate from each of the three interview panels which included council members, Mayor Stern, public works peers, direct reports and leadership team members. References were checked and background completed.
The City Administrator consulted with the Mayor in the selection of Jessica, an employment offer was extended and accepted. Thus we bring her appointment forward for Council confirmation.
