The Planning Department hosted a Western Washington University planning intern during the summer named Franklin Middelhoven, an Urban Planning and Sustainable Development student. One of his primary projects was to research the Certified Local Government (CLG) program administered by the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP). Becoming a CLG is a Comprehensive Plan-supported work program item intended to strengthen Poulsbo’s historic preservation efforts. The project also included collaboration with the Poulsbo Historical Society/Museum to update historic records and information for downtown properties. Franklin will provide an update to council on his findings to culminate his internship with the city and the museum.
