Proclaiming October 2026 Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Domestic Violence Awareness Month is nationally recognized every October and is an opportunity to help our community promote and protect the safety and freedom of all who seek refuge from this terrible crime. The Crisis Center of Matagorda and Wharton Counties provides free and confidential services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.
During the month of October, The Crisis Center will be promoting public awareness of domestic violence. On October 21st, the Crisis Center will host “Walk a Mile in their Shoes” in support of victims and survivors. On October 15th, The Crisis Center asks the citizens of the City of El Campo to participate in Go Purple Day by wearing purple on that day to show support for survivors and victims of domestic violence.
