CONSIDERATION OF AND ACTION ON
Texas Municipal League Region 14 Director Election
The Texas Municipal League (TML) has 15 sub-state regions (regions 2 through 16) that were formed in 1958. Regions exist to promote interests in city government on a regional level, facilitate the exchange of information among the cities in a region, and assist the TML Board of Directors in formulating policy that represents the diverse interests of the state.
Each region elects officers and conducts regional meetings at least twice each year. Each region also elects a representative to serve on the TML Board of Directors (even numbered regions have elections in even years and odd number regions have elections in odd years). The board representative must be an elected official from a city within the region and serves a two-year term of office with a maximum of two full terms. Each region may have only one board representative.
The City of El Campo is a member of TML District 14 and is entitled to one vote for the Director Election. This vote must be cast by a majority vote of the city’s governing body.
The scope of duties of a TML Regional Board Director are as follows:
· Represents the region on the TML Board of Directors.
· Serves as the legislative grassroots coordinator for the region.
· Serves as communications link between the region and the TML Board and staff.
TML Region 14 Director Candidates are as follows:
- Sally Branson, Councilmember, Friendswood (Incumbent)
- Jaquavous S. Doucette, Mayor Pro Tem, Prairie View
