CONSIDERATION OF AND ACTION ON

SUBJECT:

Discussion and Consideration of City Development Corporation Funding for Civic Center Video Wall Improvements in the Amount of $39,190

BACKGROUND:

At its August 24, 2026 meeting, City Council approved the purchase of the Civic Center video wall system and authorized the project cost to be split 50/50 between the City and the City Development Corporation of El Campo (CDC).

Also on August 24, the CDC Board unanimously approved its $39,190 share, representing 50% of the project cost. Because the CDC expenditure exceeds $25,000, the CDC is now requesting formal City Council approval of its funding contribution.

The project will replace the aging projector and screen system in the Civic Center Main Hall with two 13' x 8' video walls, one on each side of the stage. Each wall will consist of 40 individual panels, allowing staff to replace damaged panels rather than an entire display. The system includes a two-year warranty.

The upgrade is also timely, as the CDC will host the Governor’s Small Business Summit on October 15, 2026, bringing business leaders from throughout the Gulf Coast and Houston areas to El Campo. The new system will meet the Summit's audiovisual needs while providing a significant long-term upgrade for future Civic Center events.

SUGGESTED ACTION:

Staff recommends approving the CDC's $39,190 expenditure for its 50% share of the Civic Center video wall project, consistent with Council's prior approval of the project and funding split.
