Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Subgrant for Highway Traffic Safety Funds - Project Number RS-2027-00413

EXPLANATION:

The Bradenton Police Department has tentatively been awarded $38,000 through the Florida Department of Transportation for the FY 2026-2027 Work Zone Grant, Project Number RS-2027-00413. Grant funding will support enhanced traffic enforcement and officer visibility in and around designated work zones to promote vehicle and worker safety and reduce unsafe driving patterns. The approved budget includes $20,000 for law enforcement overtime associated with grant-funded enforcement activities and $18,000 to purchase a variable message board to support traffic safety messaging and enforcement operations. Upon Council approval and FDOT approval, grant documents will be forwarded to the Mayor for signature.

SUGGESTED MOTION:

Motion to approve acceptance of the Subgrant for Highway Traffic Safety Funds and authorize city staff to finalize all grant-related documents and authorize the Mayor to execute the final agreement and any amendments.
