The Florida Information Protection Act ("FIPA") requires that businesses and government entities implement reasonable security measures to protect personal information and to report data breaches to affected individuals and the State Attorney General.
As the City collects, creates, maintains, uses, and transmits personally identifiable information ("PII") in the operation of normal business activities, the Council wishes to memorialize a policy that sets forth the requirements for the proper handling and security of such to safeguard against inappropriate access to PII and to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive confidential information.
