In September 2025, the City secured $2,000,000 in funds from the FDEP for the WRF Off Line Storage Pond via the Appropriations Act. The Off Line Storage Pond is a key part of a phased plan aimed at improving both reliability and resiliency at the WRF during severe wet weather events. It also plays a critical role in the facility's SB 64 compliance strategy. The project involves designing, bidding, and constructing a 3-million-gallon lined earthen basin; relocating the existing lift station maintenance facility and sludge drying beds; installing pipes and fittings from the existing bypass valve to the pond; and adding a pump station with appropriately sized piping to convey flow back to the treatment process. The Department awarded the City an additional $1,000,000 in appropriation funding, totaling $3,000,000, which will cover the design phase of the project, with the remaining costs to be applied to construction.
$1,000,000 in additional funding was awarded under the 2026-2027 General Appropriations Act, which totals $3,000,000 in funding for this Agreement.
