Consider request from Fire & Emergency Services to accept a non-matching grant award in the amount not to exceed $17,126.68 from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®.  

The grant funds will be used for the purchase of six (6) Sensit Gold 4-Gas Detector and Calibration Kits.  These kits can detect the smallest gas leaks including, but not limited to, odor response investigations, underground leak pinpointing, carbon monoxide investigations, confined space monitoring, combustible gas measurements, pipeline purging, method 21 emissions and inert gas operations.  Firehouse Subs has awarded Fire & Emergency Services a total of $17,126.68 towards the purchase of the kits, anything over this amount will be the responsibility of the County.

As yet to be determined is which agency will make the purchase of the kits.  Once accepted, Cherokee Fire & Emergency Services will work with Firehouse Subs® to determine the purchasing methodology.  If the County receives the funds, a second agenda item for a Budget Amendment to the FY2027 Budget will be brought before the Board for allocation of the grant award to the Fire & Emergency Services FY2027 operating budget and they will work with the Procurement Department on the purchase.
