Consider request from Recreation & Parks for a Cooperative Management Agreement, Partner Operations Plan (POP), and Rider with the US Army Corps of Engineers for the Operations of Nine (9) Recreation Sites on Allatoona Lake.
As presented at the Work Session, the cooperative agreement and operations plan lay out the responsibilities of both Cherokee County and the USACE for continue operations of nine (9) sites at Allatoona Lake.
Under the agreement, the Corps will retain oversight, ranger patrols, and federal compliance. Cherokee County will assume operational control over the campgrounds, day use areas and boat ramps. The county will manage fee collection. The county will retain the fees to cover operational expenses. The Corps and the County will share operational costs in years 1 and 2 with transition of full maintenance duties to the county in year 3.
The anticipated revenues from the campgrounds, day use areas and boat ramps will cover the operational costs. Any remaining revenues will be reinvested in the parks.
