BACKGROUND

August 20, 2026: The Avienda development team recently hosted a public meeting at Chanhassen City Hall, where it shared an updated site plan and announced a grocery anchor for the development. You can download and view a copy of their presentation on the Avienda development page of our website (linked at the bottom of this section).  Coborn's Market & Table is planned for Avienda, bringing the company’s newer grocery concept to Chanhassen. Coborn’s currently operates a Market & Table location in Plymouth.

August 13, 2026:  The Developer hosted an open house on August 13 for anyone interested in the Avienda development plans. The open house was held at City Hall.

July 8, 2026: The City Council held a visioning session that included updated Avienda plans since the June 22, meeting with general discussion only and no formal action.  The City Council expressed appreciation for updates made by the developer since the June 22 meeting, and that while the plan was headed in the right direction, additional refinement was necessary.

June 22, 2026: The City Council reviewed an updated sketch plan and anticipated PUD amendment requests at their work session. The City Council expressed concerns with the updated sketch plan, and both the developer and City Council agreed that a "visioning session" would be beneficial to move the project forward.

March 30, 2026: The City Council reviewed a revised sketch plan for Avienda’s retail area, which featured a more traditional layout anchored by a grocery store and organized around a central gathering space with retail, dining and service uses. Discussion focused on stormwater challenges, design feasibility and site layout questions, with the developer planning to submit a formal application in early April.
