Previous Action

May 13, 2026 (Item 5.B) – The Regional Transportation Commission (“RTC”) approved projects for road preservation and rehabilitation in District 4, including preservation on Carson Street from Appion Way to 5th Street.

Background/Issues & Analysis

The Project is located in Performance District 4 and will perform preservation treatments, including

crack repair, patching, and surface treatment on South Carson Street between Appion Way and 5th Street, and it includes adjustments to the beginning of the South Carson Street Multi-Use Path terminus at Clearview Drive to decrease the likelihood of vehicles driving on the path. The Project was identified and approved by the RTC in May 2026 as part of the District 4 Pavement Prioritization process, which evaluated regional and local roads based on several factors, including road condition, classification, safety, and other relevant criteria.

STBG funds will be used for the construction of the Project. The design is being completed by RTC staff using local funding, separate from the Agreement. The Agreement includes $790,688 in federal STBG funding with $41,615 in required local match. There is an additional $1,214,197 in funding outside of the Agreement. The total construction cost of the Project is $2,046,500.

Design of the Project has started, and construction is anticipated to start in mid-2027.
