Approval of the November 2026 Election Contract, Joint Election Contract, and authorization for the City Manager to execute said contracts (City Clerk Alicia Ramirez)
Approval of this item will authorize the City Manager to execute agreements with Hays County for election services for the regular November election. Also included is a contract for election services that outlines the responsibilities of the City and Hays County as it relates to the election.
The City of Buda has historically contracted with Hays County and other Hays County jurisdictions for the City's elections. By doing so, the City is able to cost share in administering the election. Hays County provides election equipment and administration that the City of Buda does not have to provide.
The last day that the City can call an election is August 17th, which is also the last day to file. The Mayor and At-Large Position 2 places were uncontested, therefore the duly elected officials are Lee Urbanovsky and Monica Davidson, respectively. Contested races are Single Member District B and At-Large Position 1 (unexpired term).

The costs will be allocated to the participating entities based on the cost and the registered voters in Buda. $25,000 is included in the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget for the City's shared costs of holding an election.
Not applicable.
The City may explore the option to hold its own election. This would require additional equipment, staff, and coordination. This alternative is not recommended.
