Adopt a Resolution approving the City of Buda's Federal Legislative Agenda (Assistant City Manager Lindsey Baker and Normandy Group Representatives)
The Normandy Group will present the City of Buda's draft Federal Legislative Agenda at the Oct. 20 City Council meeting. This is the first federal agenda the City has adopted at least in recent years. A federal legislative program provides the City of Buda with a strategic and coordinated approach to advance municipal priorities at the federal level. Through proactive engagement with Congressional representatives, federal agencies, and regional partners, the City can identify funding opportunities, influence policies that affect local government, and advocate for resources necessary to support continued growth. Establishing a formal federal legislative agenda ensures that advocacy efforts are aligned with City Council priorities and provides a consistent framework for communicating Buda's needs. Ultimately, a federal legislative program strengthens the City's ability to secure outside resources, protect local interests, and advance projects that benefit the community.
N/A
Adopting a federal legislative agenda helps to secure federal grant funding, build strategic relationships, and aligns federal opportunities with local priorities. It does not obligate the City to pursue every available federal initiative. Rather, it establishes the City's priorities and provides direction for staff to strategically evaluate opportunities and advocate on behalf of the community.
There is no direct financial impact in adopting a federal legislative program.
Pros: creates a unified approach and direction to staff.
Cons: none.
Direct staff to revise the federal legislative agenda.
Take no action.
