A Resolution Authorizing Change Order 1 to the MSU Sewer Interceptor Replacement Project, Phase 1
September 22, 2026
Resolution
Approve a Resolution Authorizing Change Order 1 to the MSU Sewer Interceptor Replacement Project, Phase 1
The MSU Sewer Interceptor Project generally involves: replacement of existing collection sewer main within the Kagy Boulevard and South Tracy Avenue corridors, and replacement and upsizing the MSU Sewer Interceptor through the Kagy Corridor, Langohr Park and between the intersection of Babcock Street and South 7th Avenue to the intersection of South 4th Avenue and College Street.
Attached is a copy of the proposed resolution and change order 1 for the above-referenced project. This change order includes a construction schedule adjustment for the particularly disruptive section of the proposed project through the intersection of Kagy Boulevard and South 3rd Avenue and South Willson Avenue. The intent with this change order was to expedite construction through this intersection by working twenty-four hours per day to complete the work prior to the start of classes at Montana State University and nearby Elementary Schools.
City staff have reviewed these changes and associated costs and found them to be necessary and commensurate with the work involved.

This change order will increase the contract amount by $32,096.00 bringing the total construction cost from $3,182,356.60 to $3,214,452.60, which is well under the funding appropriated in the FY27 budget as project WW138 from the Wastewater Fund and Wastewater Impact Fee Fund.
