Northwest Bozeman Area Plan
The City of Bozeman is mid-way through the creation of the Northwest Bozeman Area Plan; a long-range planning effort focused on approximately 3,000 acres in the northwest corner of the City’s growth boundary. Anticipating the scheduled public review date with the Community Development Board on November 16, 2026, this project update intends to briefly summarize the process to date and introduce the public draft you will be tasked to consider and make recommendation to the City Commission in November.
This planning effort is connected to the proposed Gooch Hill Sanitary Sewer Lift Station, which will provide infrastructure necessary to support future development in this area. While the lift station is a separate engineering project, the Area Plan will guide how this area develops after the lift station is operational. The Area plan will address potential land uses, transportation connections, parks and open space, public infrastructure coordination, and protection of natural resources.
The Northwest Bozeman Area Plan boundary was determined by the portions of the two drainage basins to be partially serviced by the Gooch Hill Sewer Lift Station; more specifically, the northern portion of the Aajker Creek basin and the western half of the Lower Baxter Creek basin. The planning area is generally bounded by East Valley Center Road to the north, the eastern and southern boundary align with Durston Road, Oak Street, Cottonwood Road, Cattail Street, and the potential future extension of Ferguson Avenue north back to East Valley Center. The western plan boundary runs north south approximately one-half mile east of Love Lane.
A copy of the draft plan is attached for reference, which summarizes plan efforts to date.
