MEETING DATE:

October 27, 2026

AGENDA ITEM TYPE:

Resolution

RECOMMENDATION:

Authorize the Mayor to Sign a Resolution of the City of Bozeman, the City of Belgrade, and Gallatin County Declaring Behavioral Health a Shared Regional Priority

STRATEGIC PLAN:

1.3 Public Agencies Collaboration: Foster successful collaboration with other public agencies and build on these successes.

BACKGROUND:

Local governments in Bozeman, Belgrade, and Gallatin County are increasingly facing behavioral health needs that exceed the capacity of existing state and federal systems, placing greater responsibility on community partners, emergency responders, and municipal services. Regional participation in the Gallatin Behavioral Health Coalition has strengthened shared understanding of service gaps and system pressures, reinforcing the importance of coordinated efforts and sustainable investment across the full continuum of care. The jurisdictions continue to emphasize the need for stable, long term State and Federal support for behavioral health services ranging from prevention and outpatient treatment to stabilization supports and long term recovery, reflecting a unified commitment to improving community wellbeing and reducing reliance on emergency and public safety systems as default points of care.
