MEETING DATE:

SUBJECT:

Declaration of Fifteen (15) Vehicles and One Valve Exerciser as Surplus Property and Authorization for Disposal Through Public Auction in Accordance with Purchasing Policy B-30

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Declare fifteen vehicles and one valve exerciser surplus property and authorize staff to dispose of the items through public auction in accordance with Purchasing Policy B-30.

BACKGROUND:

The Fleet Department requests authorization to sell 15 City vehicles and 1 valve exerciser through the City’s online auction platform. The attached list identifies the items, which are no longer needed for City operations and have exceeded their useful life.

JUSTIFICATION:

Staff evaluated the condition and operational usefulness of the vehicles and equipment and determined that they are no longer suitable for City use. Repairing or refurbishing the items is not economically justified compared with replacement, and the items are obsolete or no longer meet current operational needs.

Selling the items through a competitive public auction provides an opportunity to recover residual value and reduce storage demands. The proposed disposition is consistent with Purchasing Policy B-30.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Auction proceeds will be deposited into the General Fund or another appropriate fund, based on the original assignment of each asset.
